NEW YORK, NY – [MAY 5, 2020] – Quartet, a mental healthcare technology and services company, kicks off Mental Health Month with a four-week campaign focused on supporting both patients and providers during COVID-19. As Coronavirus impacts mental health needs at consequential rates, access to care is critically important. Quartet is working to help providers meet the demands of COVID-19, as a part of the company’s broader focus to help patients get the right care at the right time.

Quartet’s technology platform connects people with mental health conditions to personalized care options, based on needs, preferences, and insurance. This includes in-person care, telemental health care, and digital care options. Over 75% of surveyed mental health practices on the Quartet platform currently support telehealth, a number that has grown during COVID-19. Over the last month, Quartet has seen a weekly increase in the number of people referred to Quartet for mental health care. Moreover, Quartet is matching 70% of patients to care in 3 days, which is growing week-over-week.

As Quartet works to get patients the mental health care they need, they also recognize the importance of supporting providers during COVID-19. Quartet’s new telehealth reimbursement page helps providers transition to telehealth, and navigate recent regulatory and reimbursement changes. Additionally, Quartet launched the “Care For Our Caregivers” initiative to support health care professionals over the course of the pandemic. Through partnerships with SilverCloud and wayForward, mental health providers, primary care providers, and staff using Quartet’s platform have access to free computerized cognitive behavioral therapy (cCBT) programs with self-guided content on stress, sleep, anxiety and more. Quartet is also creating clinically-informed articles for providers, such as how to practice self-care during COVID-19.

“Coronavirus is compounding our mental health needs at consequential rates,” said David Wennberg, MD, MPH, and CEO of Quartet. “Now more than ever, we need to make it easier for patients to get high-quality mental health care. Supporting mental health and primary care providers during COVID-19 and beyond is critical to meeting this moment.”

Nearly one in four Americans experience a mental health condition in a given year, and of these individuals, about 50 percent do not receive care. According to a March 2020 survey conducted by McKinsey, 64% of all respondents reported feeling anxious or depressed; of those who received mental health care services over the past year, that number grew to 87%. In March, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services saw an 891% increase in calls to the “Disaster Distress Helpline,” compared to the prior year.

This Mental Health Month, as Coronavirus continues to impact communities nationwide and the need for mental health grows, Quartet will take action by:

  • Educating the public with 31 daily facts about mental health in the United States
  • Discussing how Quartet is adapting its model of care with Chief Operating Officer Kevin Kumler
  • Providing tips on how employers can support their employees’ mental health
  • Sharing clinical content, including how to navigate grief and develop coping skills during COVID-19
  • Exploring what mental health care access looks like for different identity groups and communities, including LGBTQ, African-Americans, Veterans and People with Disabilities

Quartet’s vision is that one day every person with a mental health condition gets the care they need. Getting patients to care, however, takes a team. Quartet brings together physicians, mental health providers, and insurance companies to improve patients’ health and drive down healthcare costs. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Quartet remains steadfast in its focus to improve the lives of people with mental health conditions, and support providers who make this work possible everyday.
